World wide help for threatened traditional brand Saab

More then 3500 registered Rescuers and over 24,000 hits at www.rescue-saab.com

It was only the end of last week, when the idea of founding an initiative to support the swedish car brand Saab, which is threadened by bankruptcy, came up.Quickly, a club called “Rescue Saab e.V.”, registered in Dresden - the saxonian capital, was founded. It´s goal is to call for attention for the current situation of Saab.

“We are not going to watch the downfall of our beloved brand without any actions: We love Saab - We will rescue Saab!” is the club motto. Within a few hours a web site (www.rescue-saab.com) was created, where Saab friends from all over the world can connect. Working together it will be possible to obtain the brand Saab with all its technical and design features.

“We were counting on a lot of popularity for our goal” says Tobias Kaboth, managing director at the authorized Saab-Dealership mobilforum Dresden GmbH, one of the initiators. “The number of registrations and hits on our Websites from all over the world are far beyond our keenest expectations.” Currently (Monday, 23.02.2009 3 pm), there are 3,500 registered Saab-Rescuers and more then 24,000 Visitors from 81 countries.

Besides being a forum for Saab supporters, the initiative is going to take an active role at the discussion about the future of Saab. “A stakeholdership of Saab-drivers and Saab-Dealers at the company Saab can be a solution. This way, we are signaling to potential investors that they can rely on a loyal customer base. Thousands of registrations show, that Saab drivers are loyal to their car brand.” according to Kaboth.

By now, a first temporary created website reached its limits due to the high number of hits. It was created in only two days by a company called “Agentur Xport communications” on a voluntary basis. Therefore a new revised version including additional features, like a possibilities to post comments, will go online by the middle of the week.

In addition to the world wide active support from Saab drivers, it is targeted to win prominent Saab-drivers to help campaigning for the survival of Saab. Prominent Saab-Drivers are Stefan Raab, Bastian Pastewka, but also Bill Gates, Steven King and Jay Leno.
